Dear Piru Elementary Families,
I am honored to be your principal and pleased to welcome you back to the 2023-2024 school year! It is truly a privilege to be a part of a school community where all staff members strive to build positive relationships to support our students’ academic and social-emotional needs.
Our focus is to improve student learning for all, and we will work diligently through collaboration to discuss teaching strategies to meet the needs of our students. We will enhance student learning through improved instruction focusing on an aligned curriculum, data collection, and assessment. We are committed to finding each student’s skill level and taking them forward in their learning. This work is guided by our new Mission and Vision Statements. Mission: We will ensure that all students and educators learn at high levels. Vision: Our vision is to ensure optimal student and educator learning and support.
We understand that returning to school may be an anxious time for students and families and our counselor, Ms. Fuentes, will be available to support students and families as well as continue to focus on social emotional learning in the classroom using the Second Step Program. New this year to Piru School is a Wellness Center on campus. The Wellness Center will support student and family needs.
As the site administrator, I am committed to fostering a solid home-to-school connection to ensure our children achieve their highest potential. Your participation in your child’s education is an invaluable support. Parents and community members are partners in educating Piru Elementary students. Our purpose is to support teachers and students to enhance their experiences and encourage you to volunteer at our school in your child’s classroom and/or participate in monthly School Site Council and English Learner Advisory Committee meetings.
On behalf of Piru Elementary School staff, I want to thank you for being a part of our Condor community, where we build on traditions and meet future challenges. I wish you all an excellent school year and am looking forward to working with you!

Important information:
*Tuesday, August 1st: Online Enrollment Opens for all students.
*Wednesday, August 9th: Registration Day from 9-11am and 4-6pm.
*Wednesday, August 16th is the first day of school.
*Drop-Off Gate opens at 7:30am
*Breakfast available at 7:30am and again during recess.
*First bell rings at 7:55am. Students should be in their classrooms by 8:00am, those arriving after 8am are marked tardy. *Students may bring a water bottle or a reusable water bottle. We a have refillable water station.
